Farmer fined GH¢1,020 for unlawful entry

The Hohoe Magistrate Court has sentenced a 28-year-old farmer to a fine of GH¢1,020 for unlawful entry and causing damage to state property worth GH¢320.00 at the bungalow of Mr Andrews Teddy Ofori, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

Convict,  Michael Lodo, would serve four months in prison if he fail to pay the fine.

He pleaded not guilty and admitted entering the bungalow of the MCE, but denied stealing, and pleaded for mercy.

Police Inspector George Doe told the court presided by Mr Peter Anongdare that on March 28, 2019, at about 1400 hours, the accused entered the bungalow of the MCE and stole electric cables, four wall sockets and a lamp holder.

The prosecution said Yaw Julius, security man, at post at the bungalow, heard an unusual sound from the boys’ quarters, and when he got there, he saw Lodo pretending to be collecting mangoes.

Insp Doe said Julius sought the assistance of another security man and they arrested the farmer and handed him over to the police. – GNA
