Ex-convict jailed 3 years for stealing, unlawful entry

The Circuit Court at Dormaa-Ahenkroin the Dormaa Central Municipality of Bono Region, has sentenced a masonto three years imprisonment for unlawful entry and stealing.

George Ernest Gyabaah, 22, an ex-convict, has pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful entry and not guilty to the charge of stealing.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Apelkiwine told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainant is a mechanic and a grocery shopkeeper, living at Nkrankwanta.

The court heard that the convict is also a resident of Dormaa West District of the Bono Region.

Chief Insp Apelkiwine said at about 6.30 am on Sunday, September 25, this year, the complainant detected that a thief broke into his shop and stole GHc 6,000.00 from in a drawer, which was under a box.

The prosecution said that the complainant reported the case to the Police at Nkrankwanta, and with the assistance of some residents, accused was arrested to assist in investigations.

Chief Insp Apelkiwine said the convict admitted the offences in his cautioned statement to the police.

The convict appealed to the court for mercy and forgiveness, saying he had suffered beatings and injuries that had rendered his male organ dysfunctional. – GNA
