KNUSTFORD University College in Accra has held its 12th matriculation and graduation with a call on staff and students to embrace technology in teaching and learning.
The ceremony held on the theme “post COVID era; rediscovering the new perspective for education,” saw the enrollment of 241 new students for both Accra and Kumasi campuses of the college while 246 students graduated after satisfying the stated conditions of the college.
Speaking at the programme, the founder of GATE Institute, Mr Anis Haffer said the outbreak of COVID-19 taught Ghanaians things they should have learnt long time ago.
He said the observation of the COVID-19 protocols such as handwashing, sanitation, cleanliness should have been a regular practice.
According to Mr Haffer, for every course being taught at the universities, portals needed to be developed, so that it would have the course content, citations, and references in order to make students independent.
“I still question why we are in a digital age and have analogue teachers,” he said.
He said there was also the need for idea spaces where students or teachers would have the space to have their ideas happen irrespective of the curriculum.
“Idea spaces is where we give the young one the opportunity to extract out of themselves natural attitudes that can make a difference,” he said.
He urged both the matriculants and graduands to produce, offer services and solutions to make the lives of those around them better with the education they have received.
The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Ghana, Amer Ali Alalawi said private universities played a vital role by offering opportunities to students who could not be admitted into the public universities.
The president of the university, Prof. Anthony Ahiawodzi, appealed to the ambassador to help the school achieve its dream of operating a fully technological school to support teaching and learning.

He charged the graduands to take advantage of the opportunity that would come their way and make a difference in their work environments.
Deserving students were awarded, where Detective Lance Corporal Emmanuel Atwam of the Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service emerged the overall best student of the school and also took home the best student in Information Technology.
