Ehi Nutome Galiza festival launched in Accra

The 4th edition of the Ehi Nutome Galiza festival celebrated annually by the people of Ehi and its affiliate communities was launched in Accra on Saturday, with a call for unity, integration and peaceful co-existence among the people.

The launch themed: ‘Ehi Nutome Galiza 2019: Empowering the Women through Agriculture and Entrepreneurship’, was used to inaugurate governing committees of the Ehi Development Council (EDC).

The committees, namely; Physical Development Committee, Festival and Culture Planning Committee, Fundraising Committee, Health and Environment Committee and Education and Legal Advisory Committee were outdoored to take charge of all festivals and cultural occasions, as well as mobilise the human resource, encourage sound health and environmental cleanliness practices and infrastructure development needs facing Ehi and its 36 affiliate communities.

The Galiza festival, which began on July 6, would end in September.

Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, the life patron of the Ehi Development Council and the Dufia of Ehi, in his welcome address said it was his expectation that the celebration of this year’s Galiza would culminate into peace and sustainable development of Ehi.

“I want to see the Ehi Galiza celebration sustained, I want to see our poor roads resolved, our electricity maters resolved, I want to see business coming to Ehi and its surrounding villages to create job opportunities for my youth,” he said.

He said that the festival would create market for local product (Gali) to sustain the local business and employment for the natives of the community.

Torgbui Adukpo IV, therefore, advised the EDC to deepen the relationship between the local council of chiefs and their subjects living in the diaspora towards fostering socio-economic relations amongst the people of Ehi.

He charged the EDC to be positioned on the platform that would attract the ideas and suggestions to quicken the infrastructural development of Ehi to support growth and wealth creation.

Mr Stanley Mawuli Amamu, Secretary to the Development Council said the EDC was moving from policy decision-making stage to implementation, adding that the inauguration of the committees would give meaning to unity, integration and leadership to champion the development agenda of the area.

Mr Amamu entreated the committees to act as a liaison and advisory body between the citizens and chiefs of Ehi, urging them to chart a common cause that would lead to transformation, development and prosperity.
