The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) says it will refer to the police for prosecution its employees found culpable of alleged infractions in a recent Corruption Watch exposé on the driver license acquisition process.
This, the Authority said would be in addition to subjecting the culprits to internal disciplinary processes and appropriate sanctions.
This was contained in a statement issued by the DVLA Management on December 30, in response to the airing of the investigative documentary entitled “Money over Human Lives” across the Multimedia Group platforms.
In the exposé, done out at the Greater Accra Regional Office located at 37 and the Tamale Regional Office in the Northern Region, some DVLA officials were captured allegedly soliciting money from clients to outsmart the DVLA process.
With some officials operating through agents and others security men, they were filmed helping prospective drivers pass the compulsory tests although they had not studied or skilled.
“Management has taken a keen interest in the said documentary and the various procedural breaches it highlights. In this regard an official request has been made to Multimedia for a copy of the unedited version of the documentary for review and follow-up action” the DVLA statement said.
