Dufia of Ho-HlihaTogbe KwasiAfele II passes on

The Dufia of Ho-Hliha and Megbefia of Asogli, TogbeKwasi Afele II, has passed on.  TogbeAfele, 81, reigned for 58 years.

“Togbe embarked on a very long journey one year ago and has since not returned to the palace,” Mr Frank Yao Awuma, a palace spokesman, said at a community gathering of Ho-Hliha townsmen and women at the weekend.

According to Mr Awuma, who is also the assembly member of Ho-Hliha, the two-week funeral for the late TogbeAfele would commence on February 13, this year, with KufufuAnyi at a gathering of Asogli chiefs, queens and elders.

That, he said, would be followed Afanyanya (signing of a book of condolence) from February 14-27.

According to the spokesman, a vigil and tributes night would be held for the departed chief, on February 15-16.

Meanwhile, Togbe would ‘return home’ briefly and would receive homage from his subjects and mourners from February 17, and also for the filing past of the body, the next day.

Then other traditional rites, including a sequence of firing of musketry would follow.

Togbe Afele would be sent to his village on February 19 after a burial service at the Dela Cathedral, Ho-Kpodzi.
