Driver remanded for running over 6 children

The District Court at Kete-Krachihas remanded into prison custody,a 35-year-old driver, who ran over six school children at Matamallam, in the KrachiNchumuru District of the Oti Region.

 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), John Nchor, Oti Regional Police Public Relations Officer in a statement, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency, said some of the children died while others were injured.

It said Timothy Inyonyourn, driver, would reappear before court on May 20, 2022.

The statement indicated that the surviving victims of the accident have been transferred from Krachi District Hospital to the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region and were responding to treatment.

It said the bodies of the children were released to their relatives for burial.

The statement said that Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Charles Dormaban of the Oti Regional Police Commander,has assured the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice. – GNA
