A 37-year-old driver, who allegedly damaged an uncompleted three-bedroom, has been granted GH¢400,000 bail by the Accra Circuit Court.
Mr William Feehi Okpoti, who was charged with causing unlawful damage, pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Evelyn Asamoah, admitted Okpoti to the bail with four sureties.
The court also directed that one of the sureties should be justified with landed or movable property worth the bail sum, and adjourned the case to March 13.
Police Chief Inspector Benson Benneh told the Court that the complainant, Madam Jennifer Naa O. Odoi, was a sales executive officer residing at Labadi, whilst Feehi Okpoti resided at Teshie Tsuibleoo.
The prosecution said Feehi Okpoti was the younger brother of the complainant’s late father, Mr Francis Odoi Okpoti.
Chief Insp Benneh said the complainant’s grandfather bequeathed landed property at the Teshie Tsuibleoo Aluway area.
The court heard that with the assistance of late father and a witness in the case, the land was shared among all siblings, including Feehi Okpoti.
Chief Insp Benneh said the complainant’s father built a three-bedroom house, valued at GH¢150,000, before he died.
Prosecution said Feehi Okpoti destroyed Odoi Okpoti’s uncompleted building and sold the land to Frank Amoako, a businessman.
Chief Insp Benneh said when the complainant visited her late father’s land, she found out that all ongoing projects have been damaged, including a three-storey building.
The court heard that the complainant reported the case to her uncles, aunts and head of the family.
Chief Insp Benneh said Feehi Okpoti was summoned severally by the family head over the matter, but he (Feehi Okpoti) failed to honour the invitation.
The prosecution said a report was lodged with the police and Feehi Okpoti was arrested and during interrogations, accused told the police that he had taken GH¢8,000 loan on behalf of three persons.
