Dreams FC, Bechem, Aduana progress in FA Cup

A sublime free-kick from substitute Adamu Amadu in time added on handed Dreams FC a hard-fought 2-1 win over visiting Oda Kotoku Royals to sail through to their first semi-final appearance in the MTN FA Cup competition.

Man-of-the-Match, Agyenim Boateng Mensah got the sparse crowd onto their feet on the 16th minute mark with the opening goal before Royals’ Joe Boateng equalised with a free kick in the 61st minute.

Amadu got the winner in the 91st minute to break the hearts of the Oda side.

Dream FC got the game underway and mounted pressure on the visitors for the opener but goalkeeper Clinton Quaye and his backline of skipper Kingsley Afriyie and Joe Boateng kept them at bay.

However, Agyenim Boateng capitalized on a defensive mix-up in the 16th minute to dribble past goalkeeper Quaye to shoot into an empty net for the opener.

The goal which came against the run of play did little to change the complexion of the game as Kotoku Royals matched the host equally to end the half.

Back from recess Royals lifted their game with strikers Augustine Boakye and Stephen Kofi tormenting the goal area of the host.

Kofi came close to equalising in the 56th minute but his strike went over the bar with Boakye following with an overhead shot that missed the target.

Five minutes after, Boateng silenced the Theatre of Dreams with a well taking free-kick from behind the box for the equaliser.

Royals were left to rue their missed opportunities when Amadu hit a powerful free kick past goalkeeper Quaye for the second goal after Agyenim Boateng was brought down behind the goal area by skipper Afriyie to send the Premier League side through.

At the Dormaa Park, Aduana Stars booked their first semi-finals with a 3-2 victory over King Faisal FC while Bechem United defeated Division One side Tamale City 4-2.
