The Former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffour, yesterday picked his nomination form to contest the Presidential Primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) slated for May this year.

The forms were picked on his behalf by the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Gloria Hussey.

She was supported by the spokeperson of the Presidential hopeful, Antonio Asinyo and some delegates from the region.

The Chairman of the Election Committee, Mr Kakra Essamuah, before handing over the nomination forms took Dr Duffour’s team through the processes contained in the documents which includes Presidential nomination and endorsement form, an election guide and processes in filling the forms.

He urged them to fill the forms correctly and clearly because a month from now, the vetting would be done and elections conducted and if he won would become the flagbearer.

“Kindly convey congratulations to Dr Duffour for taking the bold step to contest the primaries,” he added.

Mr Essamuah also charged them to remind him (Dr Duffour) that the country was bleeding and falling apart and needed someone like him and the other contestants to take the country out of the rot.

Ms Hussey after receiving the forms assured of handing them over to Dr Duffour and also promised to convey the messages to him.

According to her women were always at the receiving end that was why they would work to get someone to take the country out of the crisis and that person was Dr Duffour.

At his Osu Ringway Estate Campaign Office in Accra, Dr Duffour received the forms from his team and said the country needed someone to wipe the tears that had been shed for past years adding “the eagle would soar again and Ghana will soon regain its lost glory.”

“Our dear Ghana is sinking at a faster rate than we can all imagine because between 2009 and 2012 we were an enviable nation across the world, the governance structure was placed in a corruption free and skillful hands and anchored in intellectually competent leadership.
