The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Friday, March 4, 2022, joined his fellow Muslims at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra for thanksgiving prayers for God’s continuous blessings, as the country celebrates 65 years of nationhood.
Ghana marked its 65th Independence anniversary on Sunday, and as had been the norm, Islamic and Christian thanksgiving prayers preceded the independence celebration on the final Fridays and Sundays earlier than Independence Day.
Dr Bawumia was accompanied by the Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, and a host other government officials to the National Mosque for Jummah Prayers (Friday congregational prayer), and the thanksgiving session.
They included the Deputy Minister of Energy, Amin Anta; the Presidential Coordinator for Zongo Development Fund, Ben Abdallah; Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey; former Ghana Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sheikh T.B. Damba; the Executive Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Council of Ghana, Dr Abdul Rauf and the National Nasara Coordinator, Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa.
After Jummah prayers, Vice President Bawumia requested for particular prayers to seek the Almighty Allah’s immense blessings for the nation, in the midst of ailments, political and non secular turmoil throughout the West African Sub-region and the entire continent.
The Imam of Takoradi, Imam Awal Ibn Sheikh Shuaib Korafiri, who stood in for the National Chief Imam, led supplications exalting the Almighty Allah for His blessings on the nation.
