Don’t write Medeama off – Coach Adotey

The Head Coach of Medeama, Evans Adotey, has called on fans not to write them off in the ongoing CAF Championship, following their inability to secure the maximum points in their game against Young Africans from Tanzania.

Last Friday, the Ghanaians shared the spoils with the visitors after a 1-1 drawn game at the Baba Yara stadium thus placing second with four points in their group table with one win, one draw and a defeat.

Many football fanatics believed it would be difficult for the Ghanaians to beat the Tanzanian side in the return match judging from their lackadaisical performance they put up.

But at a post-match conference,Head Coach Adotey, was confident his side can snatch victory in the return encounter in

 Tanzania.

He said he was not down because football was full of uncertainties.

“We have a young squad with even third tier players, we wanted to win here to improve our position. Since that did not happen, we can go to Tanzania and beat them there.”

“We can beat them in their backyard, don’t write us off ”, he emphasised and expressed confidence in the team.

According to the Coach, the Tanzanian squad “have more experienced players but my boys fought hard against their quality.”

Despite mixed the reactions from the fans about the player’s performance, the Coach praised him for his contributions as he emphasized his attacking and defensive roles.

Medeama made the efforts to score early in the 27th minute through a spot kick perfectly taken by the marksman,Jonathan Sowah, when Derrick Fordjour was mowed down in the box after receiving a long pass from Daniel Lomotey.

Two minutes on, Jonathan Sowah had a glorious opportunity to increase the tally but blew the golden chance away.

Strangely, the rearguards went to sleep, and the team paid dearly, as the lead was cancelled by PeodohPacomeZouzoua in the 36th minute.

The attacker bulldozed his way through the defense and unleashed a pile-drive which deflected off the woodwork before entering the net.

Medeama piled up pressure and responded with two attacks but the visitors repelled the threats to end the half.
