DOL: Rences still winless; Future Stars, Pacific Heroes win

The second round of the Ghana Division One League (DOL) commenced on Saturday with some intriguing action across the venues.

In Zone three at the Tema Sports Stadium, A5 Rences continued with their winless run as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Krystal Palace.

Rences recorded the same outcome against Attram De Visser last weekend while the latter cruised to a 2-0 victory over Susubiribi on match day one.

Both teams had the best of chances to break the deadlock in the first half but failed to make them count as the first stanza ended goalless.

Back from recess, Rences mounted an intense pressure and deservedly took the lead in the 65th minute through Matthew Agboada who scored from a cool finish inside the penalty box.

In the 71th minute, Emmanuel Arthur scored from an open play following a good build-up from midfield to level the score for Krystal Palace.

In Zone 1, Future Stars maintained their unbeaten run after posting a 2-0 victory over Soccer Intellectuals.

A goal in each half through Abdul Karim Umar and John Amankwaah secured all three points for the visitors at the Swedru Park.

New Edubiase United bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars last weekend to record their first win of the season with a slender 1-0 win over Skyy FC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, courtesy Samed Ibrahim’s goal.

Pacific Heroes rallied from a goal down to beat Elmina Sharks 2-1 at the Ejisu Okese Park.

Martin Tsiboah opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, but Frank Agyemang equalised for the hosts before Bernard Kesse snatched a late winner for Heroes with 15 minutes to end proceedings in Zone 2.

At the Sunyani Coronation Park, Isaac Baffoe’s second-half strike secured all three points for Young Apostles against Berekum Arsenal in Zone 1.
