Dogboe, Partey, Baffoe gun for top award …at tonight’s SWAG awards

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will hold its 44th awards ceremony tonight at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The event which seeks to award athletes and administrators that excelled in 2018 will have Togbe Afede XIV, President of the National House of Chiefs, as special guest of honour.

Isaac Dogboe, Thomas Partey and Tony Baffoe will gun for the flagship Sports Personality of the Year award with the Ghana Eagles (rugby) and Golden Arms (armwrestling) competing for the National Team of the Year award and Ebenezer Frimpong and Boakye Danquah going for best coaches awards.

Other awards categories include: Footballer of the Year – Thomas Partey, John Antwi, Felix Annan, Kassim Nuhu and Joseph Aidoo; Footballer of the Year (female) –  Mukurama Abdulai, Faustina Ampah and Grace Asantewaa; Pro Boxer of the Year – Isaac Dogboe, Richard Commey; Para Athlete of the Year – Frederick Assor, Haruna Tahiru; Amateur Boxer of the Year – Jesse Lartey.

Also to be awarded are Janet Amponsah (Athlete of the Year); Michael Arko and Rafatu Inusah (male and female rugby players); Derek Abrefa and Celia Baah Danso (male and female Table Tennis Players of the Year); Emmanuel Ankomah and Mavis Boatemaa Berko (Hockey Players of the Year); Kojo Barni (Pro Golfer of the Year).

The rest are Hor Halutie (Prospect of the Year); Dennis Amoa-Ababio and Sanuel Kayode (Dedication and Valour), Cabic Promotions (Boxing Promoters of the Year).

SWAG will also bestow meritorious awards Binatone Ghana Limited, Albert K. Frimpong, Kofikrom Pharmacy, Akwasi Frimpong, Greater Accra Handball Association, Jonathan Euro, Ghana Revenue Authority, Casely Hayford, Daniel Nii Mensah and T.I Amass, Kumasi.
