Deputy Local Govt Minister cuts sod for 5-6km road project

A ground-breaking ceremony has been held at Nkenkaasu in the Offinso North District of Ashanti, to mark the commencement of work on the rehabilitation of roads in the three major towns in the district.

Work on the asphalting of town roads in Akomadan, Nkenkaasu and Afrancho totalling 5.6 kilometers is expected to be completed in a period of eight months.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Augustine Collins Ntim, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, said the rehabilitation of the roads fits perfectly into his 2025 agenda of working hard to transform the district into a municipality.

Recalling his stewardship as a young Municipal Chief Executive for Offinso in 2005, Mr Ntim said, he nurtured a vision of developing the Offinso North District which was largely a deprived area bedevilled with a lot of challenges in education, health, electrification, roads and infrastructure development.

The deputy minister who is in charge of Rural Development and Agriculture described the subsequent creation of the area into a district by the Kufuor regime as opportune and appropriate and was happy that the district was making tremendous strides in development particularly during the Akufo-Addo administration.
