Danbort coach Awuni sure to return club to Division One

Coach of Danbort FC, Daniel Awuni, is highly confident of steering the Nungua-based club back to Division One football.

Danbort exhibited some sterling performance in their 4-1 whacking of Quinta Trust FA in the Zone 2 Greater Accra Division Two League clash, last Wednesday.

That glittering win saw the Nungua Warriors open up a nine-point lead with two games remaining – and tucking away a ticket to play in the Division One Middle League, which kicks off on June 14, next week.

Coach Awuni reckons that competition in the Division One Middle League will be hard-hitting and tight, but optimistic his players have what it takes to scrape through.

“I have been there before as a player, so I know how the terrain is. It’s going to be really tough. However, we have started working towards it and I’m looking forward to the best,” he asserted.

According to Awuni, once an MTN-FA Cup goal-king in Danbort shirts, his target is to qualify the club to the second tier of Ghana football.

“For sure, that’s my target. My utmost aim for now is to bring Danbort back to Division One, and I can tell you we’re ready for the taxing task ahead.

“It’s a big platform for us – and we shall certainly return to that space because that’s where we belong.”

Coach Awuni called on supporters and all sympathisers of the club “to come in their numbers to support us during the Middle League.”

Danbort visited the drop two seasons ago by default – after finishing 13th in the 16- club Division One Zone 3 league.
