C’ttee tasked to review Sister Cities of Tamale Constitution

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tamale, Mr Sule Sali­fu, on Thursday inaugurated a nine-member committee to review the 2003 Constitution of the Sister Cities of Tamale.

The committee is expected to engage with stakeholders for inputs to be incorporated into the constitution to stand the test of time.

The committee has one month to finish its work and submit report to the Tamale MCE for approval.

A group of Africa Americans in Louisville and the Anglican Church of Louisville formed part of the establishment of the Sister Cities of Tamale.

The idea of the formation of Sister Cities is to foster cultural relationship among people in different continent around the globe.

The members are Mohammed Shaibu Abdulai, Chairman; Al­haji A.A Mohammed, Alhaj Mo­hammed Haroon Cambodia, Mr Abdulai Mohammed K ( MCD), Ruhaima Salisu (DD) , Alhaji A.Y.M.B. Ibrahim, Mr Osman Mubarik , Alhaji Kojo Kaleem and a representative from the Gukpe Naa palace all members.

At the inauguration, the former President of Sister Cities of Tamale, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon Cambodia said Sister Cities was a voluntary non- polit­ical organisation.

Alhaji Haroon said a well-meaning Ghanaians and citizens of the north, especially Dagbon could also join to make meaningful contributions toward the development of the north, adding that the review of the constitution was necessary be­cause many things needed to be added into the constitution.

“The committee is mandated to engage members of the SCT to come out with more ideas that to be incorporated into the constitution,” he stated.

Alhaji Cambodia added that the committee members would do their best to meet the time allocated to them to review the constitution and urged members to contribute their quota for them to realise the task given to them.

Members of the committee after the inauguration also called on the Northern Regional Minis­ter Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, to inform him about the review of the SCT constitution.
