‘Critics of govt will soon be disappointed’

Richard Arku, the North Tongu District Chief Executive (DCE), has cautioned that critics of the government deliberately refusing to admit the good works of the regime, will soon be disappointed when all the projects are completed across the country.

He noted that the government was moving the country forward faster than any other regime by undertaking many projects, and had completed a number of them including those it inherited from successive governments.

Addressing Public Accountability Forum by the assembly to outdoor its works and plans for the future at Juapong in the Volta Region, Mr Arku appealed to the citizenry and electorate to bear with the regime of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since it was poised to deliver on its campaign promises and cited projects at Agorweme, Tsidzenu, Kome, Milenu, Bukarikope and Azagonorkope at various stages of completion.

“My administration is at the verge of completing uncompleted projects it inherited, varying designs of education, health, water and sanitation and social intervention projects to improve them and livelihoods including five-unit teachers’ bungalow constructed at Ayiwata, while a similar project at Volo has been transformed into a one-storey block, to be completed in 2020.

“Mepe Bishop Powers R.C JHS block was found dilapidated, a virtual death trap, was re-roofed, an extra three-room block, water and sanitation facility built for them, CHPS compounds project at Deve completed, another yet to be completed at Alabonu and two nurses quarters completed at Aveyime and Battor.

“Six-unit Podue E.P Basic school block, which has its roof ripped off, has been re-roofed, similar block, with water and sanitation facility constructed and furnished for Zomayi Basic School, which operated under a shed since 1953, donated 20 dining tables and chairs to Mepe St. Kizito Senior High School, supplied motorbikes, tables and chairs for all the four area councils.

“Fifty communities, including Keseve, Kodokope, Salaga, Gbagbawui, Esokope, Tornu, Asime, Kesegakope, Milenu, Ayiwata, Akuta, Aglubakpo and Wuxor, are being connected to national grid and currently houses fixed with meters for free.

“Second tranche of People With Disabilities (PWDs) Common Fund will soon be distributed for next batch of beneficiaries, seven market stalls, warehouse, 30-seater water closet facility to be constructed at Juapong, and a facelift of Battor market,” Mr Arku noted and appealed to residents to pay taxes, bills and rates to help in growth and development of the area.
