CPP challenges youth to get involved in internal elections

The Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong- Kumakumah, has admonished the youth and women in the country to avail themselves and take part in internal and national elections.

“I admonish the youth and women, in particular, to take over their country by vying for national and internal positions in the CPP because we want them to lead the change they want to see in their lives by availing themselves and joining CPP elections,” she stressed.

Nana Sarpong-Kumakumah stated that the party was founded on the “strength” of the youth and women in the country, and was the party for the ordinary citizen regardless of tribe or social status and appeal to them not to shy away from the party but support and assist in its organisation of internal elections and restructuring.

She made the admonishment at a media interaction on CPP’s organisation of internal elections towards restructuring ahead of the 2024 general election expected to be held between March1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.

Polling station election commenced from March1, 2022 to June 30, 2022, which will be followed by constituency election from July 1, 2022 to July, 31, 2022, regional and national elections will be held from August 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022 and October 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022, respectively, as well as flag bearer election from November 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 released by the Central Committee after review of the party’s internal election timetable.

According to Nana Sarpong-Kumakumah, the citizenry should take back the country by joining the CPP since it was only the CPP that could return the country to its progress, growth and development trajectory adding that “membership of the party is opened to public, membership cards costingGH¢5 and telephone number will be provided where persons interested in contesting any position in the party can reach to be registered.

“The CPP is adopting grassroots approach in our elections, where it intends to mobilise rank and file of Ghanaians as was done by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, during formation of the party because a future CPP government will renegotiate all deals involving the country’s natural resources.

“This will enable citizens to gain from the resources, ensure the country owned and has full control of mineral deposits and not investors so I appeal to CPP members, supporters, sympathisers, faithful and well-wishers and allDr Nkrumah’s admirers and in other political parties to join the party to return Ghana to its glory,” Nana Sarpong-Kumakumah said. -GNA
