COVID-19: Cheddar Donates to Disabled and Needy in Accra

Business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako has donated over 5000 bags of food items to some disabled and needy persons in the Accra on Sunday ahead of the partial lockdown of Accra and Kumasi due to the outbreak of COVID-19(Corona virus).

Also known as Cheddar, the founder of Wonder World Estate, under his social intervention initiative dubbed “The Freedom Movement” donated the items including rice, oil, tomato paste, markerel and bags of water at various communities in the capital.

The donations started at the Independence Square, headed to James Town and then to Alajo and made stops on some principal streets to give to the needy.

Speaking after the donations, Cheddar explained that it was important to give to needy persons who might not have much to rely on during the lockdown.

“Africans and Ghanaians are usually not privileged as people in the western world and people might find it difficult to feed during the lockdown. The donations would go a long way to help them survive in these difficult times,” he stated.

He said, the current situation caused by Corona virus was the first to be witnessed in the world and efforts must be made to support those who would suffer the consequences and its devastating effects such as hunger and starvation.

“With the Freedom Movement initiative, we would continue to encourage people to be free and excel in the midst of the pandemic and beyond,” he stated.

One of the disabled who benefitted from the donations, Eno Mary expressed gratitude to Cheddar for extending a helping hand to the less privileged.

The mother of three added that, they were contemplating on means of survival during the lockdown but the items would go a long way to ensure they feed and remain at home.

He urged benevolent individuals and organizations to come to their aid as most of them relied on daily wages to survive.
