Court remands goat thief

A Circuit Court in Sunyani has remanded a 26-year-old farmer, to prison custody for stealing a goat worth GHC600.00 at Wawasua, in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region.

Kofi Kuol-Tunati, also known as Atta, was charged with stealing and causing unlawful damage to two persons. He would  re-appear in court on October 21.

He admitted the charge of stealing, but pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful damage, and the court presided by Mr. Sylvester Nii Okine Ablorh remanded him .

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Emmanuel Sampson, told the Court that the complainant, Abubakari Sadiq Fuseini, a land surveyor, engaged accused to dig a toilet pit in his farm where he reared livestock.

He said on Friday, September 17, his herdsman took his goat for grazing, and when accused realised the herdsman was away, he stole the goat and hid it in a cocoa far.

The prosecutor said accused hired a taxi and attempted to convey the goat for sale but on seeing a woman he escaped.

Insp Sampson said the taxi driver waited for accused but he never returned, but he was arrested at his house at Wawasua. – GNA
