Confusion at Berekum as Chelsea, Kotoko draw

Chaotic scenes were recorded at the Berekum Golden City Park yesterday where Asante Kotoko was held to a goalless encounter in their match day eight encounter of the Normalisation Committee special competition, resulting in injuries to two Kotoko officials.

The injured, Amo Sarpong, the club’s policy analyst and other, unnamed, have been hospitalized in Berekum after fight broke out before the match.

Reports reaching the Times Sports indicated that Mr. Amo Sarpong had to fire gunshots to ward off the aggressive fans of Berekum Chelsea.

They sustained wounds and had to be whisked to the hospital to receive treatment.

The action of the fans also left parts of the Kotoko bus vandalized.

When calm was restored, the two sides played a tough game but failed to find the back of the net.

Riding on the back of a comfortable 2-0 lead in the previous fixture, Kotoko hoped to make it a double but met a tough Chelsea that stood toe-to-toe with them.

Despite the draw, Kotoko remained at the top of the table and are in good position to snatch any of the slots for qualification.
