Conduct thorough investigation into Appiatse explosion – National House of Chiefs

National House of Chiefs has called on the government to conduct thorough investigation into the explosion of mining materials at Appiatse, near Bogoso in the Western Region and prescribe appropriate punishment to those found culpable.

That the chiefs believe would help avert the recurrence of the calamity that took the joy of families and denigrated the nation.

On Thursday, January 21, 2022, there was a massive explosion of mining materials resulting in the deaths of about 17 persons, several injuries and destruction of properties.

In a statement issued to the Ghanaian Times, the House expressed its deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved and injured families and wished the injured “divine healing and speedy recovery”.

The House commended the President of the State for the swift intervention and the arrangements made to fast track the logistics and treatment of victims.

It was the hope of the House that individuals and organisations would continue to extend a hand of support to the affected families to make life better for them once again.

Nananom urged all Ghanaians to call appropriate institutions for help when there was the need instead of filming and taking pictures during such events.
