Commissioner of Insurance commended for promoting industry

The Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Justice Ofori, has been commended by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for his exceptional leadership in providing insurance education and awareness.

 The President of the GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, who made the commendation when the leadership of the GJA paid a courtesy call on Dr Ofori in Accra on Wednesday, said insurance played a critical role that safeguards the lives of journalists who are deemed as the fourth estate of the realm in Ghana’s social and democratic dispensation.

The courtesy call was aimed at formally introducing themselves to the Insurance Commissioner and strengthening the working relationship that exists between the Association and the Commission.

He lauded the Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Ofori for his sterling efforts in developing the insurance industry thus far.

Mr Dwumfour also commended the Commissioner of Insurance for the introduction of the Motor Insurance Database (MID) and other significant reforms and policies aimed at improving the insurance space.

“I want to commend Dr Justice Ofori for his excellent performance since his appointment into office as the Insurance Commissioner which has led to the many policies and accumulation of several awards both to his honour and that of the Commission,” he said.

Mr Dwumfour pledged the GJA’s commitment to work with the NIC to promote insurance education to promote the industry to accelerate the development of the country.

The Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Ofori expressed gratitude to the GJA executives and indicated that the Commission was keen on working with the Association in attaining greater heights in the country.

He said the media could play an influential role in deepening insurance education to deepen insurance penetration and expand insurance coverage.

Present during the courtesy call were the newly elected executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) led by Mr  Dwumfuor, GJA President;  Linda Asante Agyei, GJA Vice President;  Rebecca Ekpe, Public Affairs Officer; Mr Dominic Hlordzi, Organising Secretary, and Audrey Dekalu, Treasurer.

Also present were officials of the Commission.
