Come support team to victory…Hearts fans told

Director of Communication of Hearts of Oak, Mr. Kwame Opare Addo has asked fans to fill the Accra Sports Stadium in their numbers to cheer the team in their opening campaign of the CAF Champions League competition.

Hearts will play Guinean opponents, CI Kamsar, at the Accra Sports Stadium in a first round preliminary stage game.

But Mr. Opare Addo’s call has come following defeats to Togolese champions ASKO de Kara and Ghana Premier League debutants, Accra Lions in friendlies to prepare for the big game.

The defeats left supporters disappointed despite the low stakes but the club’s Communication Director has urged the fans to stay calm and not panic.

“There is no need to panic or lose hope because we lost against Togolese champions ASKO de Kara and Accra Lions on Sunday.”

Mr. Opare Addo said defeats in their last two games serves as reality checks.

Speaking to the Times Sports on Sunday, Mr Opare Addo said the results does not mean the team was not ready. “We are taking the positives from these two games and that is going to help us a lot.”

He said the team will correct all the minor mistakes to shape up the team for Sunday’s game.

“Let no one lose hope because of the defeats, they are preparatory games to fine-tune the team. The technical team used the game to try out some new strategies and new roles for some players. We have picked some positives out of the game which would help us reshape the team very well ahead of Sunday’s game.”

“We know that being the only club representing the country in Africa, all eyes would be on us to perform; it is up to us to prove our critics wrong just like we did in the league and the FA Cup competitions,” he added.

“The players are ready to do their bit. I expect the fans to come out to support the team to victory on Sunday.”
