Collins Ntim leads team to inspect ongoing devt projects in newly created regions

The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development has set up a special team to undertake a regular inspection of all on-going development projects meant to improve the infrastructural capacity of Municipal and District Assemblies in the newly created regions.

The objective is to enable the Ministry have first hand information on all the projects triggered by the creation of the new regions with the goal of ensuring their efficient and prompt delivery.

Mr Augustine Collins Ntim, Deputy sector Minister and leader of the team, announced this during the team’s maiden tour of projects in the Western North and Ahafo regions at the weekend.

The projects include the construction of Regional Co-ordinating Council offices, Municipal and District Assemblies’ administration blocks, offices for Decentralised Departments, Court buildings, staff bungalows and roads.

Commissioning a 2-storey administration block of the Akontombra District Assembly, Mr Ntim said “this is evidence of the Akufo Addo government’s policy of providing and sustaining the development of the necessary infrastructure to power the socio-economic growth of the new regions”.

He expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to the chief, Nana Kwabena Ebi II, for releasing a 20-acre land free of charge for the building, and asked officials of the Assembly to remain dedicated to duty and strongly imbibe the culture of maintenance at all times.

Nana Ebi, in his response, held the view that”politics is about development and development must not be centred at the national level, but more importantly decentralised to the district levels which the NPP administration is amply demonstrating”.

The team inspected projects in the Akontombra, Bodi and Juabeso districts (Western North), Asunafo North and Tano South Municipalities, Tano North, Asutifi South and Asunafo south districts (Ahafo).
