Collins Ntim, 22 others honoured for sterling leadership qualities

FROM TIMES REPORTER, KUMASI   Twenty-three personalities were on Saturday honoured in Kumasi for their hard work and sterling leadership qualities by the United Clergy International Association (UCIA) headquartered in the United Kingdom.   They included Mr Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament for  Offinso North and Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduonim, Member of Parliament for Ejisu and Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways Mr Francis Adabor, Member of Parliament for Ahafo- Ano South East Mrs Comfort Boakye Mensah, Principal of St. Louis College of Education, Kumasi and Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu, Kwabre East Municipal Chief Executive.   Dubbed ‘UCIA Global Achievers Leadership Awards’, the programme was meant to reward hard work, commitment to duty and excellence in leadership.   They were presented with medals and plaques.   Speaking on the topic, ‘Be an ethical leader in an unethical world’, Apostle Dr Stephen Asante, President of Higher Heights Theological College, Accra identified ethical leadership as an indispensable tool for driving the country’s development agenda.   “The problem of Ghana,” he says, “is corruption and lack of ethical leadership.”   Emphasising that “leadership is not just a position but a position of duty and responsibility, Apostle Asante notes that imbibing ethical leadership with meritocracy and not partisanship is the way forward for Ghana”.   “Ghana,” he continued,  “cannot and must not fail” explaining that ” when the society’s aim is achieved, the individual’s goals will also definitely come to pass.”   A citation for Mr Collins Ntim’s award titled, ‘UCIA 2020 Nobles International Award for Excellence in Leadership’ reads: “This award is in appreciation of the years of your outstanding leadership and devotion to the service of the people of the Offinso Constituency in particular and Ghana as a whole.”   Responding, he said: “I dedicate it to the good people of the Offinso North whose tremendous support has propelled me this far. I sincerely cherish them and will continue to serve them diligently.”
