City, Liverpool clash in Youth Cup final

MANCHESTER City are through to an FA Youth Cup final with Liverpool after a comfortable 4-2 win over West Brom on Monday night.

Ben Knight scored twice for City while Tommy Doyle and Felix Nmecha also got on the score sheet for the hosts as they look to become the first team other than Chelsea to win the competition in six years.

Jamie Soule briefly leveled for West Brom just before half-time and Rayhaan Tulloch pulled one back late on but, watched on by former City defender Micah Richards, Gareth Taylor’s side showed their class to progress.

Under-18s star Paul Glatzel had a debut to remember in front of the Kop as he scored twice for Barry Lewtas’ side to take his tally to 28 goals for the season across all competitions.

City were finalists three years in a row between 2015 and 2017 but are targeting their third FA Youth Cup victory. Liverpool have won the tournament three times in their history, most recently in 2007.
