CIMG governing council inaugurated

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) is set to launch the maiden edition of the Regional Novel Brand Index to aid in the marketing of the economic potential of all sixteen regions of the country.

The index when launched will seek to profile all the regions in the country and project their individual comparative advantages in terms of resources and opportunities.

This will help potential investors take advantage of the country’s vast resource for investment and job creation.

The President of the institute, Dr Daniel Kasser Tee, disclosed this at the inauguration of the governing council of CIMG by the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw OseiAdutwum in Accra yesterday.

The council has DrKasser Tee as the President with Theodore AdjeteyOsae, Vice President.

Others are: Mr Franklin Sowa, Alfred Boyan, MsAmaAmoah, Ms Hilda Peasah, MrKwasiKyere, MrKwabenaAkuamoahAgyekum, MrKojoMintah, Ms Angela Affran and Mr Kofi Addo.

DrKasser Tee said this was a sequel to the successful conduct of a customer satisfaction and loyalty study, whose outcome led to the launch of the country’s first Customer Satisfaction Index for the banking industry.

He said under the blessing of the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Association of Banks, the second report was expected to be released later in the year which would cover four industries.

DrKasserTee said plans were far advanced to introduce the novel Regional Brand Index report for Ghana.

Under this, he said data would be collected across the nation for this purpose, with the potential to further market the country to the wider world.

“We have also successfully submitted our Zero draft of the Legislative Instrument, which I believe the ministry will work assiduously to process for the consideration of Parliament.

He explained that these among others were a few of the things that the institute had been engaged in, ever since their interest were championed to get the bill passed into law.

“I now, on behalf of the first Governing Council of CIMG thank you profusely and also promise that we will work to uphold the good values of the institute at all times. We will endeavour to ensure that CIMG is governed and managed in accordance with sound corporate governance practices for improved performance.

“We extend our gratitude to the President for the quick turnaround time in assenting to the Act within two months of its passage by Parliament and also for constituting this Governing Council in good time, leading to today’s inauguration.”

He noted that the importance and the central nature of marketing were found in the words of David Packard, co-founder of HP, which states that: ‘Marketing is too important to be left for the marketing people alone.’ We, therefore, have to work as a nation to ensure that the marketing philosophy permeates every sphere of our lives as a people, particularly within the public and civil service architecture of Ghana.”

He said the institute’s readiness to help market Ghana remained unflinchingly strong as it had opened its doors to any MMDA and the larger public services to improve performance efficiency.

The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw OseiAdutwum noted that the council must work to deepen the relevance of marketing in the country.

He said marketing had a critical role to play in the socio-economic development of the country and its value must not be taken for granted.
