The Chief Bishop of the Faith Evangelical Mission Worldwide, Bishop Bobby Harley Neequaye, has asked the church to relook at meeting the needs of the people in terms of their physical, material and spiritual developments.
This, he said was the only way the church could participate and contribute meaningfully to the total and holistic development of the country.
“If the church is focused on meeting the spiritual needs as well as the physical and material needs of the people, it will work towards that. My advice is that the churches take a relook at the needs of the people in terms of developing them physically, spiritually and materially,” he emphasised.
Bishop Neequaye made the call at an awards and dinner night event organised by the church in Accra on last Friday.
The event formed part of the climax of the Golden Jubilee Anniversary celebrations of the church and was attended by a cross-section of faithful from across the country.
Chief Bishop Neequaye said the Faith Evangelical Mission Worldwide, since its formation had been a blessing not only to its members, but the country and humanity as a whole.
He said beyond working towards the spiritual needs of the people and propagating the gospel, the church had been very concerned about also providing the material and physical needs of the people.
“Actually we are trying to bring the love of Christ to the people, and so we do not only do church but we do education and healthcare. We have two hospitals one in Accra and one in the Volta Region, and we also have a school at Mataheko near the church,” he emphasised.
Chief Bishop Neequaye said these formed part of the ways to address the needs of the people in terms of their physical needs and not just spiritual.
“We intend to expand our operations in terms of health care operations by putting up a specialist hospital at Anyaa in Accra and to this end, we have acquired the land to be able to put this facility,” he said.
He said after chalking the 50th milestone, the church would continue to count on God to bless and help them achieve what it had put on their hearts which included serving the community.
In all, about 17 individuals, pastors and congregations were honoured for their contributions towards the growth of the ministry in Ghana and across the globe.
