Church of Pentecost organises tree planting exercise

The Children’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost, Tema Community One District in collaboration with Perfect Example Environment Foundation has organised a tree planting exercise at Obonu FM.

The participants planted seedlings such as willow brook, blackberry, miliciaexcelsa and tree of life.

The programme which formed part of the Children’s Ministry Week is in line with the church’s vision 2023 theme: “Possessing the nation.”

The district leader, Elder Joseph Darko Larbi, speaking at the ceremony, advised Ghanaians to plant more trees and take good care of the environment.

He made reference to the Bible where God after creating Adam and Eve put them in the Garden of Eden and asked them to care for it.

Mr Larbi said Christians being the representatives of Jesus Christ on earth were responsible for taking care of the earth.

“We believe planting trees is one of the ways of protecting the environment,” he said.

Mr Larbi said Christians were expected to create awareness for others especially children, the future leaders, to plant more trees.

Beatrice Arkorful, one of the participants said it was good to protect trees because when the last tree dies the last man would also die.

Another participant, Princess Ofosuhene, said trees were important because they give us oxygen in the day time and prevent erosion.
