More than 400 needy persons were presented with assorted items worth GH¢ 370,000 by the Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbath Assemblies in Accra, at the weekend as part of the church’s corporate social responsibilities.
The beneficiaries including widows, physically challenged and the aged were drawn from Amanfrom Government Hospital-Kasoa, Department of Social Welfare, security services and the Sefwi Wiaso orphanage,
The leader and founder of the Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbath Assemblies, Apostle Philemon Okoh Agyemang said the gesture, which was an annual ritual organised twice every year, aimed to address the plight of the less privileged in communities, institutions and the church at large to live meaningful lives.
“It is the duty of every christian to take care of the needy. It is a calling that God has given to every christian. If we want to be blessed and see the face of God we need to give and be charitable.
You do not give because you have in bounty but because it is your responsibility as a christian,” he stated.
Apostle Agyemang said God delights in those who give to the poor and the needy in society and urged Christians to freely and willingly provide for the poor, the needy and other people who were disadvantaged in the communities.
“Don’t use your riches to ride over the poor. Show them some love. This is not some charity project to show off but it is our little contribution to help society and make peace with our maker,” he added.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the church for demonstrating love and compassion towards the needy.
“I am so much happy about the items given me and I thank Apostle for the gesture and love shown us.
Initially I use to crawl on the floor without a wheel chair, so I am most grateful to Yaweh and Apostle for remembering some of us too. May God richly bless him and enlarge his territories,” a physically challenged Kwasi Antwi from Sefwi Bekwai said.
As part of the programme, some distinguished personalities who have excelled in their fields of endeavour since their stay with the church were also honoured.
Among the special invited guests that graced the occasion were the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi and Professor Kofi Agyekum of University of Ghana.
