The Best Boxer Award on the night went to O/Cdt Andy Mensah also from Chiringa for his exploits.

Speaking after the event, Guest of Honour, Brig.Gen Abraham Yeboah Nsiah praised all the participants for their efforts, adding that the three nights had been electrifying with excitement.

He said the boxing competition was very important on the training calendar of the GMA and must continue.

“The competition is important even globally and for a good reason. It must not be considered unnecessary and punishment to the cadet, “he stated.

He added that, the competition helps assess the robustness and stamina of the trainees and also give them confidence through healthy competition.

“This is not to produce accomplished boxers and not to brutalize civilians but to protect them against criminals and other situations, “he stressed.

He said, the competition was meant to give the cadets the needed strength and courage to deliver on their duties.

He also commended the female boxers for their efforts, adding that, they made a good case for more females to be giving the opportunity to join the military.
