Chinese companies donate PPE to GAF

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Thursday received Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) worth GH¢80,000 from the Chinazingeng Friendliness Development Company Limited, a group of Chinese companies in Ghana

The items which included 15,000 face masks, 42 cartons of liquid soap, 102 pieces of tissue paper and 10 Victoria buckets were to support the fight against the COVID-19.

Presenting the items, Zhao Hongquan, the Military Attache, at the Chinese Embassy in Accra said the fight against the disease  was a shared responsibility, adding that the virus does not respect national borders or between races.

“The virus can only be defeated by joint efforts with love from all mankind, ”he said

Mr Hongquan said there was a strong relationship between both countries, therefore the need to assist each other.

According to him, the GAF had a pivotal role to play the fight against the pandemic therefore the PPEs should be made available to them.

“Currently, Ghana and China are facing the unprecedented challenge caused by Covid-19. Just like the Chinese Armed Forces, especially GAF play a very important part in the fight against the virus,” he said.

Zhao Hongquan re-affirmed China’s commitment to Ghana, adding that “the Chinese see Ghana as their second home.”

The Chief of Staff Officer of the Army Headquarters, Brigadier Gen. Michael Ayisi Amoah receiving the items, expressed gratitude to the companies for the kind gesture stating that it would go a long way to support the GAF.

He assured that the items would be used for its intended purpose.

The Chief Officer stated that the GAF was ready to support stakeholders in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.
