Chief clears 35-year-old refuse dump at Hansua

Residents of Techiman in the Bono East Region have hailed Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour II, the chief of Hansua, a suburb of Techiman for single handedly clearing 35-year- old refuse dump in the municipality.

Mr Korang Antwi – Bosiako, a resident, in an interview with the Ghanaian Times on Tuesday at Techiman, said he was full of joy when excavators were sent to the two sites at Hansua, to clear the dung hills which were situated at the center of the community.

Nana Fosu Gyeabour, who is also the Baamuhene of Techiman Traditional Council (TTC), had earlier reshaped all the trunk roads within Hansua, constructed a satellite market , a sick bay for Techiman Senior High School (SHS) worth GH₵ 80,000 .

Others were the donation of a six – unit classroom block with ancillary facilities, a 10-seater water closet(WC) toilet facility at Jamestown, a police station at Aworowa and administration block and dormitory for Abrefi SHS.

The Chief of Hansua, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Encom hotels in Techiman, had also constructed a gari processing factory, a community guest house and ICT center among other philanthropic works in Techiman and beyond.

Mr Hayford Owusu Frimpong, the Assembly Member for Hansua Electoral Area, told the Ghanaian Times that residents gathered at the sites during the clearing exercise amidst clapping and singing, to show appreciation to the chief.

The Assembly Member commended the efforts of Nana Fosu Gyeabour, for contributing his widow’s mite to the development of Techiman, especially Hansua community saying that “posterity will remember him”.

He appealed to the chief to stay focused with his charitable gestures, to help improve the living conditions of his people, and not to be discouraged by the comments of saboteurs in and outside the municipality.

The Chief of Hansua, Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour II, was optimistic the clearing of the refuse dumps would help to advance the health conditions of the people.

Nana Fosu Gyeabour noted that his kind gestures were geared towards promoting better living of residents in the Techiman municipality, especially the people of Hansua.

” It is refreshing to give back to society what God has bestowed on you. There is more blessing to give than to receive. This is part of my contribution to the progress of the country “,  he told the Ghanaian Times.

The chief expressed gratitude to the TTC, his family and friends, the management and staff of Encom hotels in Techiman and residents of Hansua, for supporting his vision to promote infrastructural development of the area.
