Chelsea set to block Azpilicueta, Alonso move to Barca

Chelsea are planning on stopping both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso from joining Barcelona after they hijacked two of their summer deals, according to reports.

The Blues were interested in both Raphinha and Jules Kounde during the current transfer window, but the Spanish giants have swooped in and stolen them from beneath the west Londonders’ nose.

Raphinha joined Barca from Leeds earlier in the window, despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

And Kounde now looks set to join him in Spain, despite seemingly being close to a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea had agreed a £55million deal for the French centre-back but Barcelona are reportedly set to sign him from divisional rivals Sevilla.

Boss Xavi was also planning on adding defensive duo of Azpilicueta and Alonso to his squad.

But Thomas Tuchel’s side have decided to end negotiations with them and are refusing to do business with their Spanish counterparts, claim Sport.

The Blues are reportedly unhappy at their transfer rivals’ conduct throughout the transfer window, which could see Azpilicueta and Alonso’s moves to Spain now be blocked.

The defensive duo both looked set to leave Stamford Bridge this transfer window.

Azpilicueta has one year left on his contract and is keen to move back to his homeland, whilst Alonso has been linked with a move to Barca throughout the summer. But both moves may now be off leaving their future in doubt. -Talksport
