CCTV technician remanded for circulating nude pictures on social media

Accra Circuit Court has remanded in police custody, a 27-year-old man for circulating nude pictures on social media and extorting money from a business woman.

Prince Sevor, a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Technician, who was reported to have posed as a woman with the name ‘Rachel’ on social media to extort money from his victim, would re-appear before court on August 23, 2021.

The Director of Child Protection Digital Forensic Laboratory and  Cybercrime Unit, Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP)Dr Herbert Gustav Hanson, confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Time, in Accra, yesterday.

He said in May this year, the victim befriended Sevor, who had posed himself as a woman on Facebook with the name Rachel Huges, claiming to be a Zimbabwean based in the United Kingdom.

According to ACP Dr Hanson, acquaintance was established and relationship moved from Facebook to Whatsapp between the victim and Sevor.

ACP Hanson said nude pictures of the victim were shared with accused thinking that he was a woman.

Sevor after retrieving the nude pictures used another whatapp phone to communicate with the victim.

ACP Hanson said Sevor later asked her victim to pay GH¢5,000 or the nude pictures would be uploaded on social media.

The director said victim paid GH¢2,000 to Sevor, but he demanded more money, which infuriated the woman.

ACP Yankson stated that after persistent efforts to get moneyfrom the victim but to no avail, Sevor uploaded the pictures on wwwempressleak website and later posted the link to the victim.

He said the victim reported the case to police leading to the arrest of Sevor, adding that three more victims have made a case against accused.
