Caterers of SFP to receive local food supplies

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), Madam Cynthia Morrison,  has stated that from henceforth caterers of the School Feeding Programme ( SFP) would be supplied with local food stuff to prepare meals for beneficiaries of the programme.

She disclosed this in an interview with the Ghanaian Times on Monday, on the sideline of a dissemination workshop of the Ghana National Household Register (GNHR) data held in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region.

Mr Morrison said the ministry was collaborating with the Buffer Stock Company to supply local rice, maize, tomato, pepper, garden eggs, vegetable oil among others, to caterers of the SFP, to promote the consumption of locally produced food.

She stated that the dream of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to achieve Ghana Beyond Aid could only materialise if Ghanaians consumed what they produce, instead of depending on foreign goods.
