Carpenter granted GH¢60,000 bail for stealing security door of GH¢117,500

 The Adentan Circuit Court has granted GH¢60,000 bail with two surities to a carpenter, for allegely stealing a brand new security door at Lake­side community eight Fan milk , in Accra.

Walter Zutah, 26, was charged with two counts of stealing and dishonestly appropriating a security door valued at GH¢6,000, belonging to Claire Joggenson.

A bench warrant has also been issued for the arrest of an accom­plice, only known as Constance.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo said the complainant is a building contrac­tor residing at Nsuonsnu Lakeside and caretaker of Claire Joggen­son’s house at Lakeside communi­ty eight.

The court heard that accused is a carpenter and a resident at New Legon together with Constance, who is at Large.

The court heard that on July 30, 2023, at about 8:00am, the accused went to the house of the complainant at Lakeside commu­nity eight Fan milk lane, broke the security door and stole a brand new security door.

Chief Insp Lanyo said the ac­cused, after stealing the door gave it to second accused behind the fence wall.

He told the court that while the second accused was bloting with the door, a witness in the case, staying in the same house, saw the accused with the door and became suspicious.

Chief Lanyo stated that the witness monitored the suspects to a house at New Legon, where the accused was offering the door for sale to a woman, but the woman declined to buy.

The prosecution told the court that the accused took the door to an uncompeleted house, where he was arrested, and escorted to the Lakeside community eight police station.

Chief Insp Lanyo said the ac­cused admitted the offence in his cautioned statement and took the police to the house where he stole the door
