Car somersaults on top of Kwame Nkrumah Interchange

A Suzuki Vitara Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) yesterday somersaulted on top of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange as it was heading towards the Awudome Estates on the Ring Road West, in Accra.

The driver in charge of the red colour Suzuki Vitara with a temporary number plate, DP609A, believed to be a police officer,   was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Eyewitness at the scene told the Ghanaian Times that the vehicle somersaulted and landed upside down, but passerbys rushed to roll it upright and rescued the trapped driver.

The partially mangled vehicle had its side mirrors, windscreen and roof damaged, and stains of blood was splashed on the driver’s seat.

At the scene, a motorcycle rider parked his machine off the road to caution drivers to slow down to avoid crashing into the accident vehicle, which had occupied a portion of the road.

The accident caused inconvenience to motorists as there were no warning triangles placed at both ends to warn other road users of the accident.
