Car dealer defrauds businessman of GH¢ 480,000

A 48-year-old car dealer, who defrauded a businessman at Bonteeso, in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie circuit court.

Isaac Dapaah Boateng was said to have defrauded the complainant of GHc 480,000 under the ploy of selling to him an excavator.

The plea of Boateng was not taken and he would reappear before the court on September 28, this year.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvanus  Dalmeida told the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that in December, 2020, accused posted the picture of 320GL Excavator on social media offering it for sale.

He said the complainant saw the picture of the machine on social media, decided to buy it and paid GHc 480,000.00 to Boateng.

DSP Dalmeida said after receiving the money, accused went into hiding and the complainant reported the case to the police at Nkawie, leading to the arrest of Boateng. – GNA
