Can Accra Lions upset Kotoko in K’si?
Reigning champions, Asante Kotoko will host second-placed Accra Lions in a tricky betpawa Premier League match-day 15 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today.
Kick-off is at 6pm.
The hosts will need nothing more than a win to keep them in the title race, having painfully lost 1-0 to Karela United in their last meeting which have seen them drop from second to fifth on the log.
Looking like a tough debut campaign for Coach Seydou Zerbo, the Porcupine Warriors have managed one win in their last five outings, hammering new entrants Kotoku Royals 5-1 before recording 1-1 stalemates against Gold Stars, Tamale City and Great Olympics respectively.
The latter have been on a scintillating form with the most recent against Great Olympics where they cruised past the ‘Dade’ lads 3-1 last weekend and will aim to keep their momentum.
Ahead of today’s tie, Accra Lions have won three, drew one and conceded one defeat against Real Tamale United in a 3-1 slump on match-day 12.
The last meeting between both sides saw Kotoko eased past Lions 3-1 in the first leg and rescued a point in Accra which ended 1-1 in the return leg during the 2021/22 campaign.
A win from Lions will see them stay in second place with 29 points, two adrift leaders Aduana Stars who continued with their impressive form with a 2-0 victory over Nsoatreman on Sunday, while Kotoko will close the gap to four against Aduana Stars should they pick a win.
