About 10,000 youth from northern Ghana, are to benefit from a financial support from the Business Development Ministry.
Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Awal, the Minister of Business Development disclosed this in Tamale and revealed that the ministry had budgeted more than GH¢10 million to support the youth this year.
He said that each beneficiary would be given a minimum of GH¢10,000.
According to him the money was meant to assist the youth to be self employed.
Dr Awal who interacted with a cross section of the media here, is in the region for an outreach programme to sensitise the electorate on the good policies and programmes of the government.
He indicated that more than 96,000 jobs were created across the country by his ministry last year alone.
Dr Awal emphasised that the government was committed to promoting businesses of the people and that several policies had been rolled out to realise the objective.
He mentioned pro-poor policies of the government such as Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs as well as One Village One Dam as deliberate policies to improve income status of the people of the country.
Dr Awal, therefore, entreated Ghanaians to give President Akufo-Addo four more years to continue with his good policies and programmes.
He warned that many of the programmes being undertaken by government would be halted if the electorate failed to renew the mandate of the President.
The Minister stressed that the government was working hard to improve the lives of the people as it continued to stabilise the economy for businesses to thrive.
Dr Awal stated that but for the Free Senior High School policy; thousands of students from the north would not have gotten admission into second cycle institutions.
Prince Imoro Andani, former Northern Regional Minister on his part said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was the party that cares for the people of the north.
He stated that the efforts President Akufo-Addo put in to ensure the resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis was clear testimony of the government’s commitment to addressing the developmental challenges of the area.
Prince Andani therefore, advised the people to throw their weight behind the government to deliver them from the poverty cycle.
