‘Build your faith in the Lord’

A former Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Rt Rev. Francis Amenu, has encouraged members to build their faith in the Lord at this crucial moment of the country’s economic challenges.

“Let’s acknowledge God as a specialist in crises and if there was a time to trust and hope in the Lord,” he said.

Rt. Rev. Francis Amenu was preaching a sermon on the theme “God’s love against church tradition” at a thanksgiving service of the four-day 10th General Assembly of the church on Sunday in Ho.

The General Assembly was attended by over 200 participants made up of General Assembly’s Standing Committee, Executives, Synod Moderators, Presbyters, Synod Representatives and Council members.

He emphasised that the crippled man Jesus healed during the Sabbath even though it was against tradition, it was to show love to mankind though it was a Sabbath day.

He said despite our peculiar situation or political affiliation God’s love knew no limit as it reached all levels.

Rt Rev Francis Amenu advised Christians to always seek His loving face always even in times of adversities adding things would change for the better.

On the same sex debate, he said the church still stood against Lesbians Gays Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ+) and would continue to use the pulpit to educate members since it was against tradition.

He called on members to harness their gifts and talents and use them positively in building the church, adding “let us better appreciate each other for the development of the church.”

In his remarks, the Moderator of the Church, Rt Rev Dr Lt Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko, noted that the pioneering missionaries of the church had a team spirit, a spirit of unity and trust that promoted the evangelisation process.

“Let us learn from them and work together to win more souls for Christ,” he said.
