BoG urged to introduce more financial sector reforms

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), has called on the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to introduce more reforms that will go a long way to strengthen the financial sector.

The GPCC said introducing further reforms would restore confidence in the banking sector.

A communiqué issued by the GPCC at the end of its  2019 GPCC conference, held at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region said the collapse of the banks had led to job losses and it was imperative for the government to take measures to mitigate the sufferings of workers in the laid off process.

The GPCC also urged the government agencies investigating the collapse of those banks to go full hog and bring to book anybody found to have contributed to the collapse of those banks.

The GPCC commended government for lifting the ban on small scale mining to enable legally licensed mining companies to work.

It however, urged the government and regulatory agencies to ensure that small scale miners abide by the rules and not degrade the environment.

The council also lauded the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme, which it described as the right move to ensure food security.
