The Board of Trustees for the KonongoOdumase Senior High School (KOSS) Endowment Trust was inaugurated in Accra on Wednesday with a call on members to remain committed and strategic in dealings concerning the welfare of KOSS.
They are Reverend Samson K. Boafo, Maxwel Kofi Dwumah, Helena Asamoah Hassan, Joe Oteng Agyeiwaa, Osei Asibey Owusu, Beatrice Patience Mireku-Gyimah and Maxwell Opoku Agyemang.
The rest are Kizito Owusu Atuahene, Justice Minoan-Premo, Kwadwo Nyantakyi Kankam, Kofi Brito, YaaBrobey, Silas Owusu, Charles Asamoah Boateng and Frank Adu.
The board, chaired by Samson K. Boafo also has two ex officio members called Dr Benjamin Kwaku Baah and Dr William Akoto Oppong.
President of KOSS Old Students’ Association(Anuanom), Nana Odeneho Kwaku Kyeremanteng, who inaugurated the board revealed that the endowment trust had targeted raising an amount of five million dollars to give KOSS a major facelift, while promoting students’ welfare.
He therefore charged members of the board and all Anuanom, both in and outside Ghana, to contribute their quota towards the realisation of the target.
The Anuanom fraternity, he said, had over the years supported various developmental projects in KOSS adding that, more would be done in terms of support to make the school more conducive for teaching and learning.
“The State as we know cannot do all when it comes to development across all sectors so having understood this, we are taking it upon ourselves to raise funds, put it into the hands of the trustees who will manage it, raise proceeds from whatever investments they do for the development of our dear KOSS. Nationally and internationally, we have the numbers when it comes to old students’ population so this dream of ours to raise the amount in question is possible to achieve with determination,” he added.
He also called on parents who were financially stable to support schools their wards attended.
Going beyond supporting schools only, Nana Odeneho Kwaku Kyeremanteng, who is the Chairman of Groupe Chrematin, the parent company of Comet Properties Limited, indicated that supporting underdeveloped communities where certain schools were located should be of concern to old students.
He revealed that KOSS would celebrate its 70th anniversary come February 25, 2023 and assured that the old students’ association would represent in their numbers to support the school as it marked the milestone.
Chairman of the board of governors of KOSS, Mr Phillip Amakye on his part stated that the school remained committed to the development of human capital and support for the needy but brilliant students.
He mentioned that over the years, the Anuanom fraternity had demonstrated enough commitments that gave the school enough hope that the old students could honour their promise of continuous support to the school.
Mr Amakye also called on all old students, corporate institutions and individuals to offer maximum financial support “to enhance the realisation of this noble dream.”
“I want to encourage everyone to join us make this dream a reality. We are much aware of the current economic turbulence but where there is a will, there is a way. Together we can make it,” he stressed.
The Headmaster of KOSS, Dr Benjamin Kwesi Baah thanked the Anuanom for the enormous support they have been providing the school over the years, saying it had contributed to the excellent academic performance of many students.
