Bible Society of Ghana inaugurates Retreat Centre at Kitase

The Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) over the weekend inaugurated a Retreat Centre at Kitase in the Akuapem South Munici­pality in the Eastern Region.

The two-storey facility christened “Bible Village” is to serve as a permanent Secretariat for the group.

It would additionally serve as prayer retreat centre not only for members but also other Christian groups, as conference hall for board meetings and also as prayer meeting ground for families and individuals as well as grounds for weddings and other important occasions.

The President of BSG, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah in a sermon, charged the managers of the centre to strictly adhere to its intended purpose.

According to him, a tem­ple must always be place of prayer, sanctified and dedicat­ed to the glory and service to God, it must be a place set apart where the spirit of God would reveal himself through visions to those who meditate and seek his help.

“This place would not be allowed for on-Godly acts including the solace seeking arena for boy-girl relation­ships or hand bags popularly referred to as side chicks.

Quoting Mathew 21:12-13, he said Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves and said unto them, “It is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

He said the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem was to draw the attention that the Temple of God must be a place of purity, holiness, righteousness, power, and praise at all times.

A representative of the of Intercessors Africa (IFA), Samuel K. Otu-Boateng who commended Mrs Regina Addae, wife of Prof. Kwame­na Bentsi-Enchill for releas­ing the 13 acre land which was virtually reduced to 5 acres due to encroachment.

Some of the encroach­ment cases he explained, had to be settled at Aburi and Mampong Police Stations but many more had to be settled at Akropong and the High Court at Koforidua.

Mr Otu-Boateng said the African Intercessors did not ask for any monetary reward but ask that they occasion­ally use the place for their meetings.

He commended Mr Sam Okudzeto who provided the Intercessors with three legal officers from his firm to offer free legal services some of which lasted three years.

The outgoing General Secretary of THE BSG, Reverend Enock Aryee-Atta giving an overview of the project said the sod-cutting for the construction of the Bible Village-Retreat Centre was done on April 26, 2015 a memoranda of understand­ing was signed between the IA and BSG on November 3, 2014.

He expressed optimism that the facility shall truly serve the Christian communi­ty in Ghana and entire conti­nent and shall be run in such a manner as to be the resort of choice for people who truly desire solitary place to commune with the Lord.
