The Chief Justice, Mr Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, has called on Ghanaians to be patient when they bring matters before the court, and allow the due process to take its normal course.
He said although the justice system sometimes was slow with its judgment, stakeholders should have full confidence in the system as wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine.
The Chief Justice, who said this yesterday at the inauguration of the Dansoman Circuit Court in Accra, said though the judiciary was mandated to resolve disputes, there was a collective responsibility to ensure democracy prevailed in the country.
He explained that there was the need for the judiciary to be
well resourced in promoting the rule of law, and appealed to traditional leaders, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and stakeholders at the local level to strengthen their collaboration with the Judiciary to bring the court to their doorsteps.
Justice Anin said the inauguration of the court would enhance citizens’ access to quality justice in the Ablekuma West Municipality, and applauded the Assembly for using their Common Fund for the construction of the court.
He said this was the second court he has inaugurated in the Greater Accra Region, stressing that the construction of the court was among the over 100 courts and residential facilities promised by the government to address the deplorable state of some courts.
“This court, designated as a circuit court, is going to offer staff of the Judiciary service a best working environment with all the modern facilities.
It will later in the year be equipped with ICT to function as a child-friendly gender-based violence court to enhance accessibility by the vulnerable in society when suffering domestic and sexual abuse,” Justice Anin said.
