Baffour Akoto Moot Court competition to be launched tomorrow

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, is expected today to launch this year’s Baffour Akoto Moot Court Competition to officially commence the Ghana Law School Students Representative Council (SRC) Week Celebrations.

The competition is organised every year as part of the SRC Week Celebrations to honour the memory and sacrifices made by the late Chief Linguist of the Asante Kingdom, Baffour Osei Akoto.

According to executives of the Ghana Law School SRC, this year’s competition will involve the participation of other African countries and other law faculties in Ghana, whilst a symposium will be held for the first time as part of the celebrations.

Baffour Osei Akoto is seen as a doyen of Ghana’s struggle for true multi-party democracy and his landmark case Re: Akoto and seven others is celebrated every year by the Ghana Law School as part of activities marking its SRC Week Celebration.

This year’s edition is on the theme: ‘Leadership, Gender and Disabilities Corporate Governance-The Way Forward after Legal Education’.

One of Ghana’s celebrated legal personality, Justice Sir Dennis Adjei, who is a Court of Appeal Judge, will chair the occasion.
