Ayikoi Otoo blames communicators for failing to resoundingly tout govt’s achievements

Nii Ayikoi Otoo, an aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has blamed communicators of the party for failing to communicate resoundingly the achievements of the government.

“This is a rather worrying scenario as the only chance the NPP has to break the eight years of political party rule if the electorates are made aware of what the party has managed to achieve within the eight-year tenure of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he bemoaned.

Nii Otoo indicated that the voices of communicators of the NPP were being drowned by those from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was a challenge to tackle head-on.

As the NPP gears up for its national executive election, the National Chairmanship portfolio has become keenly contested one as incumbent Freddie Blay bows out after serving two terms and the position will realise heavy weights in the NPP such as Professor Ameyaw Akumfi, Asamoah Boateng, Stephen Ntim, and Ayikoi Otoo, former Attorney General and Minister for Justice and former Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, battling it out.

Speaking on his bid for the chairmanship position of the partyand the upcoming 2024 presidential election, Nii Otoo noted that he had looked at the grounds and it appeared that Election 2024 would be difficult because it was like the electorates decided to give the two major parties that is NPP and NDC eight years.

“You get a four-year term which they think is two short and then they give you another four years and then after eight years they say, you know and you know you are the incumbent, you cannot run on the policy of change, you can only talk about moving forward.

“We need to look at our record and ask ourselves are people aware of the record? We are running on our record, we know, we are talking about continuity and are people aware of that record? That brings into sharp focus the whole idea of communicators of the party.

“As far as I am concerned, I think that they are not doing a good job, exactly, the message, what we have achieved, the achievements so far, you know if you hear our opponents say for example, that you have borrowed a lot, borrowed but we have not seen one thing that you have done with it, that is obviously not true,” Nii Otoo pointed out. –myjoyonline.com
